Living in a Bubble of Illusion
The tricky thing is to be aware of your specialness, but not to let it go to your ego, to stay humble. Can you imagine that everyone of us is somewhat "lost"? If someone sees through all the illusions that this life presents, we call her "enlightened". We imagine that she is the embodiment of LOVE, that she feels connected to everything and everyone, she is beyond the dualistic nature of our world, and thus, is wise. As lost creatures, we all love and admire her, and want to be like her, to bask in her radiance, we elevate and bow to her.
My belief is all is love, all is a gift. I hope it's not a delusion. Imagine that everyone is under a delusion...about who one is, about the world, about our purpose, all the existential questions. The ones who may be the most deluded are the ones that believe in their delusions the most, they believe that they are not deluded and that they see "reality".
Now what if reality is a delusion? And what if its true that the "outside world" is a manifestation of our inside world, our consciousness, or even from what resides in our unconscious. And what about collective delusions? Large numbers of people believe in the same false thing. Propagandized people, people who are fed lies fall into this category. No one has really figured out what consciousness is, how it works, and who it is even that is conscious.
But consciousness is just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe it's all about the subconscious, that unexplored territory. It's like dreams? Fragments of thoughts and feelings and perhaps concerns that can self assemble into strange and unlikely stories that we experience when the mind is sleeping and has no responsibilities, perhaps.
But what is the force that creates a dream, that creates a story of sorts? If it is not actually self-assembling, then who created it and how? One thing that we find in the subconscious is childhood trauma. It seems to be lodged in there and when something in particular in our outer world occurs, it triggers that trauma and one finds oneself acting in a very asocial manner, somewhat out of control. And this can pop up throughout one's entire life.
But that is only one speck in the seemingly infinite space which we call the subconscious. Imagine how huge is the amount of activities that take place in our bodies which function without the need of our consciousness. The trillions of cells that can harmonize, communicate, make decisions, and maintain homeostasis in our bodies, from one instant to the next. How do they do that? Dr. Luc. Montagnier, the Nobel Laureate (who just passed away) has discovered that it is through electromagnetic messages that are imprinted and passed instantly through water which makes up most of our bodies.
But that is another discussion. The mechanizations that lead to a thought appearing in our conscious mind or a decision, conclusion, or opinion is also vast and seems to form from a deeper place (perhaps unconscious) in the mind evolving into a thought, sometimes taking a few seconds.. And whatever it is that triggers the process is almost like asking where did God come from?
We are like babes in the wilderness, with no comprehension of the world we live in or that lives in us. It therefore seems to me, quite arrogant to be sure of anything. I am only certain of the fact of uncertainty, and that all is moving (however, this only seems so, it is not really certain, as I have only learned this through reading), and that anyone can be deluded at any moment, no matter how certain something seems to be. Another way to express it, is that things are most often not exactly as they seem to be.
On the human scale, one way we experience this is through the betrayal of so-called friends. I think most of us have been betrayed. We spin our webs like spiders who only want to catch someone to eat, or perhaps to watch them die. Spiders could be the greatest sadists. And who do we want to catch...friends?, lovers?, admirers?, strangers, prey, to steal from, etc. Like spiders, there are many different kinds of webs. I am talking about webs of deceit. The world of illusion, in which we all live, is full of traps and tricks. It is not for the faint of heart. What can we learn from this? To forever maintain an open mind, not to cling to beliefs, and to cultivate deeper humility and deeper compassion for we are all in this together.
